Erin Reilly
CEO / Founder
Erin is an Innovator, Director, Founder, Educator, Strategist with 20 years of experience inventing new approaches, products, services and experiences in engagement, storytelling and learning through emergent media and technology experiences, blending physical and digital.

She was on the founding team of the University of Southern California’s Annenberg Innovation Lab. Before coming to USC, Erin was Research Director for Project New Media Literacies at MIT. She is known for her social entrepreneurship activities in founding Zoey’s Room, one of the first social media programs for young girls.

Her latest applied research is on engagement, through development of a new framework titled: Leveraging Engagement, with “Fan Favorites” article in Strategy + Business providing case studies. As a researcher, strategist and creator, Erin is currently focused on investigating topics such as “phygital” play and learning, as well as new forms of engagement and storytelling in augmenting our public spaces, virtual reality and OTT (over the top) programming.

Erin is a graduate of Emerson College and has her Master of Fine Arts degree from Maine Media Workshops + College. She has been a frequent guest lecturer worldwide at universities as well industry conferences. She is a member of the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, the Board President of NAMLE (National Association for Media Literacy Educators) and serves on advisory boards, such as Disney Junior and PBS.

Aninoy Mahapatra
CTO / Founder
Aninoy joined USC Annenberg Innovation Lab in 2011 where he worked with Erin Reilly to help build the PLAY! online learning platform. He now serves as the lab’s technical director. With a background in Application Development he worked as a Software Engineer at Philips Healthcare making sure radiologists could accurately scan people’s brains. He then moved to Los Angeles with a mission to master the dark arts of computer science at USC and has been a part of the AnnLab ever since. Over the course of the last six years, he has contributed to projects focused on second screen experiences, smart toys, data science and natural language processing. Currently he heads all the technical operations of the lab, which includes overseeing engineering requirements for research projects. These days he spends 35% of his time exploring the myths of deep learning and 65% of his time explaining what he does to others.
